2024 Aldermanic Forum

Join the Lakeview Roscoe Village Chamber of Commerce (LRVCC) as we welcome 32nd Ward Alderman Scott Waguespack, 44th Ward Alderman Bennett Lawson, 46th Ward Alderman Angela Clay, and 47th Ward Alderman Matt Martin for our 2024 Aldermanic Business Forum.

This event will give businesses the opportunity to hear directly from their local representatives about issues that matter to them. Topics for discussion include the state of small business in Lakeview and Roscoe Village, the challenges and benefits of running a business in Chicago, and upcoming developments scheduled for both neighborhoods.

Our forum is June 20th at 10:30AM to 12AM at the Athenaeum Center (2936 N Southport Ave). The first 30 minutes is reserved to network and mingle with the Aldermen. The Forum and Q&A will begin at 11AM. 

Registration is required. Please submit any questions you have for the Aldermen by June 14th.

In honor and recognition of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Month, this month’s Empower Hour will feature BACP Commissioner Ken Meyer chatting with Teresa Ging, CEO and Owner of Sugar Bliss.

In October 2007, Sugar Bliss launched the catering and delivery side of the business with 20+ cupcake flavors, and in January 2009, Sugar Bliss opened its retail location in Chicago’s Loop neighborhood. Since then, Sugar Bliss has expanded their product offerings to a variety of baked goods including cake pops, French macarons, cookies, brownies, morning pastries, gluten-free, vegan, and more. Additionally, Sugar Bliss has expanded beyond the retail store and now offers packaged cookies at retailers including Walgreens. Teresa shifted her career from the finance sector to attend the Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie program in Paris which ultimately led to the creation of the business. Most recently, Teresa received the 2023 NAWBO Corporate Women Achievement Award and 2023 BMO Harris Celebrating Women Award.

The candid conversation will cover the start of the business, career transitions, site selection, and industry engagement. The webinar will end with a Q&A for attendees to ask questions.
